NG Bailey has been awarded a contract with the Atomic Weapons Establishment (AWE) to provide mechanical and electrical (M&E) services to a new project.
NG Bailey’s specialist Engineering division is providing multi-discipline M&E services within the AWE’s Burghfield site, which consists of a single building structure and an adjoining support building accommodating specialised building services, process plant and equipment.
The new structure will allow for ongoing production, refurbishment and maintenance of defence ordinance, together with the associated storage and distribution arrangements whilst operating autonomously with the main site with minimal disruption.
Working to exact nuclear license conditions, NG Bailey will also provide a large proportion of the latest prefabrication techniques to the project, utilising NG Bailey’s Offsite Manufacture facility.
NG Bailey will also act as lead co-ordinator for all of the site-based services.
NG Bailey is involved at all levels of the project, with four divisions of the company working collaboratively. The company’s specialist IT Services division is installing a data network system, alongside the Facilities Services division, which will be proactively involved during an extended hand-over period to ensure that all equipment is maintained in optimum condition during operation and delivery.
Steve Briggs, managing director for NG Bailey’s Engineering division in the south, said: “I am delighted to have won this project and pleased to offer such a comprehensive solution for AWE.
“NG Bailey’s collaborative capabilities are strong and give us the opportunity to take on projects of this magnitude.”
