Recycled content

Responsible materials

Many of the materials that we procure in the delivery of our services are non-renewable such as metals, where the earth's crust contains an abundant but finite supply.  It is essential that the maximum value and benefit is derived from non-renewable resources which therefore means that these materials must be reused and recycled as much as is possible prior to disposal.

In the past, in the UK as a whole, recycled materials have not been used as much as they might have been, due to misconceptions held by many that recycled materials are of lower or insufficient quality. To drive the demand for recycled materials many construction clients are now specifying that at least 25% of the total volume of materials used to construct a building must originate from recycled content.

NG Bailey aims to support the re-use of non-renewable materials by targetting an increase in the proportion of recycled content in the materials we procure.  We are focusing our efforts on meeting and exceeding our customers recycled material content goals. In 2010/11 our recycled content target became an integrated part of our project audit process. Every project is now benchmarked according to how our teams seek to effectively use and measure recycled material content and meet or exceed customer recycled material requirements.
